Comme vous vous en doutez, son rôle principal est de garantir un flux d’air propre. En effet, il agit comme une barrière contre toutes particules de poussière, particules végétales ou corps indésirables qui pourraient s’introduire et occasionner des dommages dans votre carburateur et/ou dans votre moteur.

Pourquoi le filtre à air ?


Le filtre peut être constitué de plusieurs couches de matériaux comme de la mousse et du papier filtre, certains sont munis en plus d’une grille métallique. On ne perçoit pas forcément le filtre à air comme une cause de panne. La filtration est calculée pour laisser passer un certain flux d’air. Votre carburateur est réglé pour délivrer une certaine quantité d’essence en fonction d’un volume d’air entrant, ce sont les conditions stœchiométriques.

Sans filtre à air, vous modifiez le volume d’air entrant, votre carburateur ne délivrera pas plus d’essence pour autant car il n’est pas réglé pour ça, vous obtiendrez un mélange trop pauvre en carburant et donc une combustion pas optimale. Il se peut aussi que vous ayez des calages à faible régime et un manque de puissance à haut régime.

Pour maintenir votre tracteur tondeuse en état de marche optimal, nous vous conseillons de le vérifier plusieurs fois durant la saison d’utilisation et de ne pas hésiter à le changer si vous constatez que le filtre à air est encrassé ou saturé de particules.
